Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville is the central hub of the Baptist Health System located in Downtown Jacksonville, on the south bank of the St. Johns River. The hospital has 473 beds and over 21,000 admissions each year. The emergency room saw over 75,000 visits in 2012.

For 58 years, Baptist Health has been honored to serve the Northeast Florida community through a comprehensive network of services and facilities encompassing almost every medical specialty, including five nationally accredited hospitals, top specialists, more than 100 primary care physicians, along with home health, behavioral health, rehabilitation services and urgent care.

Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville has been designated as both a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center and has been ranked #1 in the Jacksonville area by US News and World Report. It has also been designated as a Magnet Hospital, the highest honor a healthcare organization can receive for excellence in patient care.

The Emergency Center comprises 93 patient beds with separate areas for critical care, emergency women's services, children's critical care, and separate pediatric and adult Fast Track areas for lower acuity patients with non-threatening illnesses and injuries.

The Emergency Center at Baptist Medical Center Downtown offers a continuing education program highlighted by a Risk Management Meeting, as well as regularly scheduled educational meetings and Journal Clubs. In addition, resident physicians from the University of Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville and the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville rotate to our department. Educational programs for nurses and paramedics are also offered on a regular basis and medical students from LECOM Osteopathic Medical School began rotating in our department in 2007.
