Anthony P. Pohlgeers, MD, FAAP

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF WOLFSON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL ED

Dr. Pohlgeers is originally from Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. He attained a BA in Biology from Transylvania University, Lexington, Ky and then attended University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed a Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency at Kosair Children’s Hospital, Louisville, Ky. Prior to coming to Jacksonville Dr. Pohlgeers completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at The Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since joining ERG, Dr. Pohlgeers has been involved in Resident and Fellow Education, Operational Improvement projects, Quality Assurance initiatives, EHR build out, as well as Pediatric Risk Management.

He is currently the Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Dr. Pohlgeers served on the Medical Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital for eight years during which he was Chief of Staff for 2013 and 2014. During his tenure on the Medical Board he also served two years as Chairman of the Credentials Committee for Baptist Hospital Jacksonville, Baptist South, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. In the community Dr Pohlgeers is an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; and, over the years has been a member of the men’s club, a lector, an adult education lecturer, and a volunteer at the school.

In addition he as served on the Board of Directors of The Divine Mercy House, the Physician Advisory Board of Project S.O.S. and currently serves on the Community Advisory Board for the Jacksonville School of Autism. In his free time, he and his family enjoy various beach and ocean activities, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and traveling.
