Richard M. Stromberg, MD, FACEP, President


After completing residency through the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Dr. Stromberg became one of the physician founders of ERG. He is a past Chief of the Medical Staff at Baptist Medical Center and is currently on the board of Baptist Medical Center South and Director of Emergency Services for all of the Baptist Hospitals. When not treating patients, he enjoys golf, traveling with his wife, and spending time with their grandchildren.



Raj Patel, MD, FACEP, Director of Risk and Quality Management


Risk Management has always been a passion with Dr. Patel. Originally trained in Bombay and London, he joined ERG after graduating from the University of Florida residency in Jacksonville. Over his career, he gradually developed systems to improve both ER chart documentation and physician education through QA programs and risk management seminars. His expertise in this area led to his appointment to the Claims Council and Board of Directors of MAG Mutual Insurance Company, an Atlanta based medical malpractice insurance carrier. Dr. Patel enjoys traveling with his wife and family.



Gregg Chapman, DO., Corporate Secretary and Director of Scheduling


Originally from New Jersey and Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Chapman was one of ERG’s founders. He currently oversees the physician scheduling process in all the ER’s and assists in recruiting activities. He is an assistant team physician with the Jacksonville Jaguars. When Dr. Chapman isn’t working the night shifts in our ER’s, he is usually out in the Gulf Stream or in the Intracoastal Waterway fishing with his family.



Cecilia A. Collins, MD, FAFP, Director of Emergency Department Fast Tracks


Patients who are not as sick as other patients need to be treated differently, so Dr. Collins heads a team of primary care physicians who have developed a Fast Track approach to treating and discharging these patients quickly and efficiently. One of ERG’s most fit physicians, Dr. Collins played college tennis and still skis, bikes, and scuba dives regularly. Still a Gator after med school in Gainesville, she completed her residency at St. Vincent’s here. She is past president of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and currently an officer on the Medical Staff at the Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Collins is very active in recruiting, ER improvement planning, and coordinating our monthly journal clubs.



Mark A. Horton, MD, FAAP, FAAEM, Director of Wolfson Children’s Hospital ER


Seventeen years ago, Dr. Horton joined ERG from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He has been ER Director of the Wolfson Children’s Hospital ever since. He also directs rotations through Wolfson’s ER by medical students, residents and fellows from Mayo Clinic, St. Vincent’s and Shands Jacksonville. A resident of downtown, Dr. Horton takes full advantages of local cultural and special events and enjoys traveling.



Jeff Smowton, MD, FACEP, FACP, Director of Baptist Medical Center Beaches ER


Since completion of University of Florida - Jacksonville residencies in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine, Dr. Smowton has been an integral part of our physician leadership at Baptist Beaches. His many professional interests include working with NASA, being a Red Cross Medical Director, and being as assistant team physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Some of his other interests are running, tennis, golf and family activities with his wife and daughters.



Matt Rill, MD, Director of Baptist Medical Center South ER


A graduate of the University of Florida – Jacksonville residency program, Dr. Rill has been Medical Director at Baptist Medical Center South, our newest ER, since it opened in February 2005. He has taken on the unusual challenges of the fastest growing Emergency Department in Northeast Florida, and the first paperless hospital in Northeast Florida. Since Dr. Rill, his wife and children are beach residents, he still makes time to surf when the waves permit.



David Pietrasiuk, MD, Director of Baptist Medical Center Nassau ER


After a tour in Jacksonville as a Navy physician, Dr. Pietrasiuk has been in various leadership positions with ERG. First, he was Assistant Medical Director of the Methodist ER (now Shands Jacksonville) and is currently Medical Director of the Baptist Medical Center Nassau ER in Fernandina Beach, just north of Jacksonville. Dr. Pietrasiuk lives in the north beaches area of Jacksonville with his wife and children.



David Murray, MD, FACP, Director of Hospitalists of Amelia


A graduate from Shands Jacksonville Internal Medicine residency, Dr. Murray helped establish both Eldercare and Hospitalist programs for ERG. He is currently Medical Director for Hospitalists of Amelia, ERG’s hospitalist division. His many outside professional interests include being chief medical officer for the Jacksonville Jaguars and being a ship physician with Holland America cruise lines. Dr. Murray and his wife live in the San Marco area.



David Webster, MD, Director of Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care Medicine


After moving to Jacksonville from Family Practice residency at Henry Ford in Detroit, Dr. Webster transitioned in turn from primary care to ER fast tracks to hyperbaric medicine and wound care. Now, he is Medical Director of Hyperbarics and Wound Care Medicine at Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Webster and his wife, who is also a physician, live in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Both enjoy traveling.
