Baptist Nassau

Located in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Baptist Medical Center Nassau is a 54 bed full service community hospital serving Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, treating 25,000 emergency patients per year. Baptist Medical Center Nassau has been listed in the 100 top community hospitals in the nation by Solucient Institute. Baptist Medical Center Nassau has been located on Amelia Island since 1942, though the hospital has been relocated on two subsequent occasions. In 1994, then Nassau General Hospital became part of the Baptist Health System and the physical size of the campus was almost immediately doubled.

To keep abreast of Nassau county’s expected population growth of 30% within the next 10 years, and doubling by 2030, in 2003 Baptist Medical Center Nassau embarked upon a massive, three-phase expansion program. Phase I and Phase II, completed in 2004, renovated parts of the Emergency Department, Endoscopy suite and surgical suites. Phase III expanded the medical surgical inpatient wings and the intensive care unit. Because of the population growth in the area, the Emergency Department was again expanded to 15 beds in the ER in 2005.

The hospital recently built the new $24 million Berkman Building in-patient center and intensive care unit to better serve the rapidly growing community.
